This is an Amarone style Petit Verdot. Virginia is showing how great success can come from hardy varietals during tough years with great patience. Probably 1 on the top 25 wines ever be made in Virginia I highly recommend this robust wine with filet or lamb. The Bittersweet was made by way of Passito. This means the grapes spent approximately 4 months drying in open air on straw mats. This allows the grapes to retain acidity while concentrating sugars and flavor. A process commonly used in Amarone, Italy. Alcohol is peaking over 15% which is not typical of Virginia table wines. Tons of really ripe dark berry fuit with touches of oak effectuating a smooth and complex palate. Enjoy till 2012. - E. Joseph, Dec 2007
