Bera Canelli Moscato d'Asti 2007
Our Price:
$24.00
This Moscato offers more in terms of flesh and softness than
effervescence, combining melon, orange peel and sage on the nose. In
the mouth, it is moderately sweet.
Roagna Dolcetta D'Alba 2006
Our Price:
$20.00
Intense ruby color with violet shades. Full, fresh and fruity nose with a clear aroma of red fruits, especially cherries. Dry taste, pleasantly round, with a good structure consistent with the olfactory sensations.
"Roagna’s 2006 Dolcetto d’Alba is an understated, unusual Dolcetto in that it favors tertiary, ethereal notes of menthol, licorice and spices rather than the more overt expression of fruit that is typical of Dolcetto. Roagna’s Dolcetto sees an unheard of 30 days’ of maceration. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2009." -Wine Advocate, 88 Points
Roagna Dolcetto d'Alba 2007
Our Price:
$20.00
"The 2007 Dolcetto d’Alba offers an explosion of dark red fruit, flowers, licorice and tar with lovely inner perfume and gorgeous balance. With air this medium-bodied wine puts on weight as balsamic notes emerge, adding further complexity. Roagna’s Dolcetto saw an incredible 30 days of maceration on the skins followed by a full year in oak, an unusual regime in Piedmont these days to say the least, but one which gives this wine notable complexity for Dolcetto. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2011." -Wine Advocate, 89 Points
Roagna Barbaresco Paje 1999
Our Price:
$67.00
"I have had great luck with Roagna’s Barbaresco Paje recently and the 1999 is simply a magical wine. It displays a dark translucent ruby color along with expressive notes of super-ripe fruit, cough syrup, minerals, menthol, tar, licorice and violets that gradually appear on a structured, vibrant frame of notable depth and purity. One can only wonder if the selections will be even better. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019." -Wine Advocate, 92 points
Roagna Barbaresco Paje 2000
Our Price:
$67.00
"The 2000 Barbaresco Paje is a fairly approachable wine for this estate. Sweet, long and round, it reveals attractive layers of smoke, tar, cocoa, black cherries, cedar and tobacco in a big, full-bodied style. Ideally it is best cellared for a few years, but it also drinks beautifully today with at least a few hours of oxygenation. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2018" -Wine Advocate, 91 Points
Roagna Barolo Riserva la Rocca E la Pira Riserva 1993
Our Price:
$120.00
"Roagna’s 1993 Barolo Riserva La Rocca e La Pira spent a whopping eleven
and a half years in oak! Its tannins have mostly melted away, leaving a
sublime, ethereal Barolo redolent of dried roses, plums, prunes, baking
spices, leather, menthol and anise. It possesses outstanding balance
and enough underlying structure to drink well for another decade. The
opportunity to purchase an older, ready to drink vintage directly from
the producer doesn’t come around too often and Roagna should be
commended for making wines like this 1993 Barolo Riserva available. It
is a lovely effort. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2017."
Roagna Barolo la Rocca e la Pira 2000
Our Price:
$67.00
"The 2000 Barolo La Rocca e La Pira reveals an extra dimension of expression in its dark cherries, plums, minerals, licorice, spices, leather and coffee beans. This big, dense and pure Barolo comes across as fresher and more vibrant than the Paje, yet it, too, can be enjoyed today with some air. It is a terrific effort from Roagna. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025." -Wine Advocate, 92 Points
Fracchia 'Giabine' Chardonnay 2007
Our Price:
$14.00
Fracchia’s lovely and elegant Chardonnay is made from the grapes of his family’s own vineyards, which are all located at very high elevations (600 meters above sea level, on average). At this location, the growing season is warm in daytime, but much cooler at night, perfect for ripening the Chardonnay. Mauro’s goal is to obtain the freshest aromas and flavors. Therefore, he ferments the wine in stainless steel and holds in old oak barrels, on its lees. The nose hints of apples and pears, and the flavors follow through, with a refreshing acidity and texture. Chardonnay fans should be delighted at finding a wine at this quality and price.
Mauro carries his personal touch to the series of labels that he uses for his “Antichi Giochi Piemontesi” wines, each depicting a traditional, ancient Piemontese game: “Gìabine” is a stickball game traditionally played by children.
Fracchia Casorzo Voulet 2007
Our Price:
$15.00
Sweet and frizzante! This slightly sparkling and fruity wine is made from 100% red Malvasia grapes and hails from the Piedmont region of Italy. Makes a perfect pair with chocolate...mmmm.....
Taliano Birbet Rosso
Our Price:
$16.00
Half sparkling red wine with a touch of sweetness. Much more refined than your typical lambrusco and pairs well with more complex dishes.
